The Princess Bride

The Princess Bride is a pinball game based on the 1987 film of the same name. The story is widely considered one of the best stories ever told, and this game immerses you into that story. Most of the major scenes in the film are presented as individual modes you can play through, and each mode has unique rules that further connect you to the story. The modes include:
- Farm boy skillshot sequences
- Shrieking Eels
- Cliffs of Insanity
- Battle of Steel
- Battle of Strength
- Battle of Wits
- Fire Swamp
- Buttercup’s Nightmare
- There Will Be Blood Tonight
- Guide My Sword
- Miracle Max
- Mawidge
- Storming The Castle
While qualifying each story mode, or even while playing them, you can start and play through two separate multiball modes:
- Prepare To Die Multiball
- True Love Multiball
If you survive long enough and complete all the qualifying objectives, you can play the final wizard mode: Four Horses
If all of those modes aren’t enough, there are also mini-modes on each major shot, which gives you more opportunities to score bigger points and also relive more memorable moments and quotes from the film, and there’s a special end-of-ball recovery mode: Pit of Despair. After draining, is your ball all-dead or just mostly dead?
The physical playfield is a beautifully decorated layout with shots and features designed after elements from the film.
Playfield Module
Watch the ball climb the Cliffs of Insanity, just like Fezzik does in the film!
Visit Miracle Max’s hut. Maybe you’ll leave with a Miracle Pill!
Shoot up the left ramp and into Humperdinck’s castle to start castle modes. Also, check out the swords that physically cross every time you hit the captive ball.
An ROUS guards the entrance to the right orbit and spinner. There’s also a left orbit and side loop, each giving you different ways to explore the land.
The Princess Bride is designed as a 4-flipper game and requires both a Left and Right Side-Target Flipper Assembly. New P3s come with both assemblies. P3s built prior to 2022 did not.
